Remote network monitoring for maritime

In order to ensure efficiency and safety at sea, several specific ship devices must coexist in the same network, like IoT devices, tracking systems, and security systems, to mention a few. The data traffic in a vessel reflects the various stakeholders in it: crew, charter clients, onshore operations team, coast guard, IT staff, regulators, engineers, harbor officials, finance, or other boats in the fleet.

An effective network monitoring strategy must therefore serve several masters, like safety at sea, efficiency and profitability of operations, operational and regulatory compliance, effective manning and retention, the needs of an increasingly “digital native” crew, and mitigation of cyber risks. In order to manage and control data flow, network monitoring is a must. Where to start?
