ZeroTier configuration

ZeroTier (zerotier.com) is a powerful, easy-to-use and secure system for network virtualization. ZeroTier is implemented in IOTA as a licensed feature, and allows remote access to your internet-facing IOTA devices.

In order to configure IOTA with ZeroTier, you will need to create an account on the ZeroTier website, if you don't already have one. Once logged into your account, click the Create A Network button to create a new virtual network. Click the clipboard icon next to the Network ID to copy it to your clipboard.

Log into the IOTA device you wish to add to the virtual network, and navigate to the IOTA Settings > Network Configuration page. In the ZeroTier section, paste the Network ID in the Network ID field and click the Activate button.

Open your ZeroTier account and click the virtual network to open its configuration page. The IOTA device should appear in the Members section after a few seconds. Tick the checkbox to the left to authorize the IOTA on the network. You can add a name and description and set a specific virtual IP address for the device if you wish. This virtual IP address will be used to access the IOTA remotely.

Download the ZeroTier client (zerotier.com/download) for the device from which you wish to access the IOTA remotely, and follow the same procedure of adding the Network ID to the client and authorizing the device. You will now be able to connect to the IOTA from this device while they are both connected to the same virtual network, using the IOTA's virtual IP address.
